Two of the Scottish Premiership's top four go head-to-head at Ibrox in this festive fixture, with fourth-placed Rangers hosting Motherwell in third, having played a game fewer and having one less point.

Rangers lost back-to-back top-flight league matches to Hearts for the first time since April 1996, after a 2-0 defeat at Ibrox was succeeded by a 2-1 loss at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon. It's a first defeat to the Jambos in Edinburgh since February 2020, and only on three previous occasions had the Gers lost both of their first two league games to the same opponent (Hearts in 1936/37, Dundee United in 1990/91 and Celtic in 2001/02).

Motherwell have only lost one of their past ten Scottish Premiership matches against Dundee (W6 D3), after leaving it late at the weekend to defeat the Dee at Fir Park. The Well are the first team to keep a clean sheet in six successive league games in Scotland's top flight since Celtic did so back in December 2024, and the first from outside Glasgow since St Johnstone in November 2018.

Motherwell and Rangers played out a 1-1 draw on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership season, and seeing them do so again this weekend wouldn't be a great surprise.
