Born in Chongqing, China to Ping and Lily Zhao Started playing tennis at the age of five after being encouraged by school teacher At the age of seven, emigrated to Canada and settled in the city of Richmond Hill, Ontario Played college tennis at Stanford University, ending her career with a 76–16 record and leading the team to the 2016 NCAA championship.

In 2023 reached WTA main draw four times including 2r at Bogota (l. Jones) and s’Hertongenbosch (as qualifier, l. Kudermetova).

At Tour level in 2022, played main draw at Rabat (as qualifier, Parrizas Diaz), Toronto (l. Anisimova) and Chennai (l. Gracheva in 2r).
