Had right elbow surgery after Australian Open in 2014 (subsequently missed almost four months).

Unranked players aside, at No.92 Konjuh was the equal second-lowest ranked player through to quarterfinals at the US Open since rankings began in November 1975 (Kerber was also ranked No.92 in 2011)
