Has two older siblings, brother Shun and sister Yu, and a younger brother, Ryo Began playing tennis aged six with his siblings, inspired by watching Roger Federer Did not have experience with international tours until after graduating college, so it was initially "quite challenging" on Tour. But says competing on the ATP Tour is "truly amazing" Favourite shot is his forehand, surface is hard court and enjoys playing tournaments in Japan. His favourite city on Tour is Tokyo Tennis idol is Roger Federer and his favourite athlete is football player Kevin De Bruyne. His favourite sports team is Manchester City Outside of tennis, enjoys golf and football. His dream job is to be a football player Likes watching Japanese comedy on television. His favourite movie is The Greatest Showman Favourite school subject was science. He says his best quality is his smile and worst quality is being shy

    Qualified for 2nd straight Grand Slam tournament at 2023 US Open and lost only 1 set in his 3 matches, capping it off with a 3-set win over No. 10 seed Broady. At Wimbledon, qualified for 1st Grand Slam tournament and lost to No. 24 Dimitrov in 1R

    Has compiled a 19-13 record on ATP Challenger Tour in 2023 and won 1st career title at Nonthaburi-3, THA (d. Cazaux) in January. In May, qualified at Tunis and won title (d. Blancaneaux) and afterwards broke into Top 200 at No. 178. Achieved a career-high No. 156 on 7 August

    Played in 2022 Davis Cup tie vs Uzbekistan and beat Istomin for 1st career tour-level win
